Dating from 1913 the elegant Art Deco venue hosts concerts and recitals mostly, being the home to Orchestre National de France and welcoming the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. Théâtre des Champs-Elysées also stages some dance and chamber music performances. Back in 1913, the theater became famous after Igor Stravinsky's Rite of Spring performed by Diaghilev's Ballets Russes with choreography by Nijinsky caused a riot among the audience and police was called to settle things.
