Fauchon
The most famous gourmet food shop in Paris
Posted Wednesday, April 5, 2006
At Fauchon the sensory feast begins right in front of the window display which is artfully decorated with the most incredible mouth watering edible items. Fauchon is the ultimate Parisian shop in luxury food with the best chocolates, pastries, champagne and caviar the city has to give. Fauchon was founded in 1886 by Auguste Fauchon as a small grocery store but a century later it has become a temple for the dedicated foodies.
There's something for everyone at Fauchon: cakes, macaroons and chocolates for those with a sweet tooth; caviar, foie gras, cheese, lobster and truffles for serious gastronomes; tea, jam, exotic fruits and spices for the international traveler. The shop also carries private-label champagne. Prices are on the very high side but after a visit at Fauchon it's impossible not to leave with an exquisitely wrapped present for the ones at home.
Fauchon is open Monday to Saturday 9:30am to 7pm.
