Restaurant Plaza Athénée
Alain Ducasse's restaurant in Paris
Posted Monday, April 3, 2006
International chef/star Alain Ducasse oversees this refined establishment located in the lobby of Plaza Athénée hotel. There is no doubt that Alain Ducasse is a master in the art of creating exquisite modern and authentic French dishes, after all he managed to get six Michelin stars, three each for his restaurants in Paris and Monaco. The internationally acclaimed chef has also two restaurants in New York and Tokyo to supervise so he brought Christophe Moret, former chef at Spoon in Hong Kong who he personally instructed, at Plaza Athénée. Moret shares Ducasse's passion for Mediterranean and French cuisine and expensive ingredients as caviar, lobster, crayfish or truffles. The menu changes according to season but house classics such as poached langoustines topped with caviar or spider crab stuffed with its own meat can always be enjoyed.
Designer Patrick Jouin was called to redecorate Restaurant Plaza Athénée and he managed to combine striking modern elements as chairs with pull-out plastic trays with Louis XIV and XV classic elements that artfully enhance the dining experience.
Needless to say, the wine cellar is comprised of the best vintages from around Europe - France, Germany, Switzerland, Spain and Italy.
Reservations should be made 4-6 weeks in advance. Fixed-price menus are available ranging from 200 to 300 euros. Formal attire is required. Restaurant is closed last two weeks in December and also mid-July to mid-August.
