Le Jules Verne
Restaurant atop the Eiffel Tower
Posted Tuesday, April 4, 2006
One of the most sought-after dining experiences in Paris is the Jules Verne restaurant located on the second floor of Eiffel Tower's south pillar (Altitude 95 restaurant is located on the first floor). The highlight of a meal at this establishment which has been rewarded with one star in the Michelin Guide is the stunning view of the river Seine and Parisian scenery. The restaurant dominates Paris from 400 feet above the ground and the view becomes spectacular especially at night when the city turns into a symphony of twinkling lights. Patrons reach Le Jules Verne by a private elevator and are greeted upstairs by the welcoming staff. The restaurant is all black leather but the meals are a feast of color. Chef Alain Reix prepares delicious seasonal menus and his specialty is seafood so ready yourself for exquisite buttered sea urchins or squid with duck liver dishes. Arriving early for dinner can get you a window seat.
Reservations for dinner should be done two months or more in advance and lunch reservations a few days in advance. Formal attire is required. A fixed-price lunch menu (Monday to Friday) is available for 53 euros.
