Hotel de Crillon
Luxurious 18th century palace

Posted Monday, March 27, 2006

The Crillon, housed by an impressive 18th century palace, once the residence of Count de Crillon, breathes Parisian refinement and luxury. One of the most exclusive hotels in the world, the Crillon is owned by the Taittinger family, famous producers of champagne, and welcomed famous guests ranging from presidents to pop stars and movie actors. Its unique French character and exquisite lavish appearance makes it the perfect location for a 5-star vacation. The location can't be beaten: in the grand Place de la Concorde, next to the elegant Rue du Faubourg St Honore with its luxury boutiques and upscale restaurants.

If the exterior is outstanding, the interior is breathtaking: Baccharat crystal chandeliers, 18th century tapestries, sculptures, Louis XVI furniture and marble in seven different colors.

The 103 guest rooms and 44 suites were entirely redecorated by designer Sonia Rykiel in Louis XV style. Noble fabrics, marble, rich wood panellings and antique furniture are combined with modern equipment to make guests feel like royalty. The Leonard Bernstein Suite is particularly known for boasting one of Bernstein's pianos and the grand balconnies that offer one of the best views of Paris.

The hotel's signature restaurant, Les Ambassadeurs, serves gourmet French cuisine under the supervision of Jean-François Piège, one of Alain Ducasse's students. Other dining options include the L'Obelisque bistro and a tearoom. At Bar du Crillon enjoy an Armagnac and Tattinger Champagne cocktail and lounge on antique chairs.
