Mandala Ray
The hippest club on Champs-Elysées
Posted Friday, March 17, 2006
The trendiest club on Champs-Elysées, packed with beautiful people and Parisian jet-setters is dedicated to American photographer Man Ray. The owners are Johnny Depp, Sean Penn and John Malkovich so be prepared to spot some international stars and celebrities as you lounge on the sofas. Famous portuguese architect Miguel Cancio Martin designed an "Art Deco meets Asian" decor giving Mandala Ray a Buddhist temple setting completed by Man Ray's photos.
Mandala Ray has 2 floors, with an extravagant bar on the mezzanine level and a restaurant below. The restaurant's menu is a blend of French and Asian trendy cuisine - everything from grilled foie gras to vegetarian ravioli and of course, sushi.
After a delicious meal (which can get quite expensive) patrons work their way upstairs to the bar to enjoy a cocktail (starting at 12 euros) while listening to jazz music on week days from 7 to 9pm. After 11 pm things begin to get hotter as DJs come to rock the house and on Fridays the bar is turned into a dance club with a 15-euro admission fee.
