Le Fumoir
A place to chill on a quiet evening in Paris
Posted Monday, March 20, 2006
This relaxed, stylish bar sits in the heart of Paris and has a great view over the east side of the Louvre. The interior is decorated in a gentlemen's-club style with brown oak furniture, plank floors, oil paintings on the walls, leather chairs and a long mahogany bar brought all the way from a speakeasy in Philadelphia.
A lovely terrace overlooks the church of Saint-Germain-l'Auxerrois. The intimate library in the back, filled with over 6,000 books from English and French authors lining on the bookshelves, is a real love nest, perfect for a romantic evening in an atmosphere of refinement. A selection of international newspapers is also available.
The bar serves expertly mixed cocktails and an assortment of cigars ("le fumoir" translates "smoking room"). A the restaurant, an international menu with northern influences (the chef is Danish) can be found.
Dress smart but don't obsses on it as the style is a less obvious chic.
