Le Divan du Monde
The perfect place for a late night concert in Paris
Posted Thursday, March 16, 2006
At the heart of Pigalle, Le Divan du Monde alternates nights of live performances with rendezvous with international and French DJs. The bands come from all over the world and play a variety of genres from jazz, raggae, salsa, tango to indie, rock, house or hip-hop.
The location of the club dates from the early 19th century when it used to be a brothel. Later on, it changed purpose and names and has become one the most creative and innovative music spots in Paris. The club was recently renovated and features 3 different zones on 2 floors, one of them being renamed Le Divan Japonais, in honour of famous guests that used to come to this location like Picasso, Toulouse-Lautrec or Baudelaire. The club also benefits from new large video screens and great sound system.
It is quite off the beaten path, not many tourists as in other trendy clubs, the atmosphere is casual and relaxed and drinks not very expensive.
