L'OpenTour
Sightseeing tours of Paris, covering the four most important routes, on open-deck buses, with commentaries in 8 languages. Hop on and off freedom.

Posted Monday, March 6, 2006

L'OpenTour company offers similar services to Les Cars Rouges, however their offer is more flexible as you have four Paris tours to choose from and you can get off or on at any of the stops. L'OpenTour covers more tourist attractions than Les Cars Rouges.

A one-day ticket for adults costs 25 euros and for children 12 euros but it's actually more cost effective to purchase a 28-euro ticket for 2 consecutive days as you surely won't have the chance to explore everything in one day. The tickets provide full access to any of the four tours.

Headphones with commentaries in 8 languages are also provided.

L'OpenTour routes are: Paris Grand Tour (2 hours), Bastille - Bercy (1 hour), Montmartre - Grands Boulevards (1 hour) and Montparnasse - St Germain

Paris Grand Tour - you can get on or off at any of the stops on the route: Madeleine, Opera, Louvre Museum, Notre-Dame, Saint Germain-des-Prés, Orsay Museum, Concorde, Champs-Elysées, Arc de Triomphe, Trocadero, Eiffel Tower and Invalides.
Bastille - Bercy: the buses stop at Saint-Paul, Bastille, Gare de Lyon, Gare d'Austerlitz and Parc de Bercy.
Montmartre - Grands Boulevards: the buses stop at Funiculaire de Montmartre, Gare du Nord, Gare de l'Est and Grands Boulevards.
Montparnasse - St Germain:the buses stop at Jardin du Luxembourg, the Observatoire, Catacombes, Invalides and Saint-Germain-des-Prés.

Tickets can be bought directly from the buses or from different tourist information centers in Paris. Buses pass every 10-15 minutes in summer and every 25-30 minutes in winter through stop stations. The yellow buses sporting the L'OpenTour sign are easy to spot.
