Hotel de Lille
Small hotel on the Left Bank, near Orsay Museum

Posted Friday, March 24, 2006

A quiet hotel in a building dating back to 1750s, the Lille is perfect as a base for exploring the Latin Quarter, Ile de la Cite and Saint Germain des Prés. It is located two blocks away from the Orsay Museum, in the cultural center of Paris, and at a few minutes walk to Boulevard Saint Germain. To get to the Louvre, the Tuileries and Notre-Dame cathedral just cross the Seine. The area is renowned for its bookshops, bistros, galleries and cafes like Café Les Deux Magots, Café de Flore and Brasserie Lipp where writers like Sartre, Hemingway, Simone de Beauvoir or Camus used to be patrons.

The hotel has 20 single and double soundproofed rooms with air conditioning. The rooms are decorated in the Art Deco style, in tones of orange and golden with elm-wood and rattan furniture. All rooms have direct dial phone, satellite TV, Internet access, personal safe and private bathrooms (shower or bathtub). A continental breakfast is served every morning in the vaulted stone ceiling lounge (7 euros). Single rooms are 97 euros, double ones 117 euros but online special promotions can get you as low as 75 euros for single rooms and 90 euros for doubles.
