Hotel Langlois
Belle Epoque-style budget hotel near the Opera Garnier
Posted Friday, March 24, 2006
This Belle Epoque-style building was constructed in the late 19th century but it housed a bank until 1896 when it was turned into Hotel des Croisées. It was run by the same family for nearly 100 years until 1997 when it changed ownership. The new owners renovated the hotel but kept the antique touches. In 2001 the hotel was used as a setting for "The Truth about Charlie" movie and the owners changed its name to Hotel Langlois, the name used in the movie.
The area is peaceful and quiet, in close proximity to the Gustave Moreau Museum, Place de la Trinitée, the Trinité church and Opera House. A metro station is just around the corner and there are plenty of great restaurants and basseries around the hotel and also 2 department stores in walking distance, the Galeries Lafayette and Au Printemps, on Bd. Haussmann.
The hotel has 24 rooms and 3 suites equipped with TV, telephone, minibar and hair dryer. The rooms and bathrooms are spacious, unlike the parisian-style hotel rooms and the windows are soundproofed. Rooms are decorated with Art Nouveau furniture, huge mahogany carved headboards, 19th century paintings, sculptures, velvet curtains and bedspreads. Some rooms feature marble and ceramic fireplaces and you can get a glimpse of the Sacré Coeur in the distance in the upper rooms. Prices for a single room range from 89 to 104 euros. Continental breakfast is 10 euros and ADSL Internet connection is available free of charge in the dinig room.
