Hôtel du Champ de Mars
Excellent value hotel at the feet of the Eiffel Tower

Posted Friday, March 24, 2006

Mr and Mrs Gourdal run this cosy 25-room hotel in the heart of Paris, a 10-minute walk to the Eiffel Tower. Just around the corner, Rue Cler displays its wonderful cafes, bakeries, shops, small restaurants and also an open street market, great for buying fresh vegetables, fish, cheese and other ingredients that make the French so famous about their food. In walking distance there are the Invalides, Place de la Concorde and the Rodin Museum; metro station also close by.

The hotel is flower "themed" as rooms have names like mimosa or dahlia and the walls are decorated with paintings representing flowers. As for the rest, they are basic yellow and blue rooms but some of them actually have tiny views of the Eiffel Tower. All rooms have private bathrooms (shower/bathtub), direct dial telephone, satellite TV, hair dryer, safe. A single room with shower is 78 euros. Continental breakfast (7 euros) is served in the small dining room.
