Hotel Pershing Hall
Fashionable hotel near the Champs-Elysees

Posted Tuesday, March 28, 2006

Situated in a posh Parisian district, between the Champs Elysees and Avenue George V, Pershing Hall was opened in 2001 and quickly became one of the hottest places to be seen in Paris. It takes its name after american general John Pershing who made it his headquarters during the WWI; later it became the home of the American Legion. Pershing Hall French designer Andrée Putnam transformed this 19th century town house into a minimalist oasis of calm and peace. The special feature is an outstanding vertical garden, home to over 300 species of tropical plants that stretch their leaves and flowers along a 6-story wall in the courtyard.

The hotel has only 26 rooms and suites designed in an artistic linear manner by using tones of grey and beige, stone, tile, mosaic and dark wood. The furniture is stylish modern with the bead curtains and stark-white linens completing the contemporary feel. Amenities are the ones you'd expect in a luxury hotel and a special feature is the free minibar.

The Pershing Restaurant, that extends outside into the courtyard, is presided by Erwan Louaisil, a former student of culinary genius Alain Ducasse. The hotel bar sports a clubby ambiance that the trendy clientele enjoys while sipping on cocktails and listening to French lounge music the DJ is spinning until 2 am at night.
