Hotel Montalembert
Modern boutique hotel on the Left Bank

Posted Wednesday, March 29, 2006

Hotel Montalembert, located on the Left Bank was built in 1926 in a Beaux-Arts style and used to be the favored home of writers and artists. Restored in the '90s, it emerged with a modern elegant look while retaining the architectural framework of the 1920's Montalembert. Lately, it has become more and more popular with the fashion industry and tends to get crowded during the fashion weeks. In the heart of Saint Germain des Prés, the Montalembert guests can visit the art galleries, boutiques, antique shops and cafes - Café Flore and Les Deux Magots are close by - that make the Left Bank famous. The Orsay Museum and the Louvre are in walking distance.

The 56 rooms and suites were recently redecorated, some of them retaining a classic style, a la Louis Philippe with heavy wooden armoires and beds, and others sporting a new contemporary design. Amenities include high-tech equipment - flat-screen TVs, DVD and CD players, WiFi Internet connection - and also hair dryers, mini bars, voicemail dual-line phones and in-room safes. Bathrooms are a combination of Cascais marble and shiny nickel. Rooms start at 350 euros.

Dinig options include a chic restaurant, a fireplace lounge, a summer terrace and a dining room where breakfast is served.
