Hotel de Vendôme
Historic hotel in Place de Vendôme
Posted Friday, March 31, 2006
Even only for the location - in the historic Place de Vendôme with luxury designer shops, Opera and the Louvre just a few minutes away - this hotel would be a true Parisian gem but Hotel de Vendôme has history and style also. Small and intimate but at the same time elegant and sophisticated, it was built during the reign of Louis XIV, sometime later became the Embassy of the Republic of Texas and in 1858 it was transformed into a hotel. The wood panelling, mosaic floors, decorative art and glowing chandeliers still remind the visitor today of the glorious period of Louis XIV.
The 18 rooms and 11 suites have been individually decorated in Louis IV or Art Deco-style in tones of pale blue, honey, beige or burgundy with hand-carved furniture and oversized beds. The Presidential suite is in grey and beige with a canopy bed. Amenities include radio, cable and satellite television, mini bar, safe, air conditioning, hair dryer and more. Rooms overlook the interior court or the lively Parisian streets. Bathrooms feature marble imported from all over the world. Prices start at 482 euros for a single room.
