Hotel Daniel
French/Asian themed boutique hotel on the Right Bank

Posted Friday, March 31, 2006

Recently opened in 2004, the Daniel won the hearts of its international guests with a blend of French, Chinese and Moroccan influences, far from the traditional Louis XVI design encountered in most Parisian hotels. The moment you enter the lobby you can see great attention was paid to the details, from the sofas adorned with satin cushions in warm, live colors to the hand-painted floral wallpaper (made in China especially for the Daniel), orchids in ginger vases, Khotan carpets, Murano crystals and vintage wooden chests inlaid with mother-of-pearl. The hotel is located in walking distance to Champs-Elysées and Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré.

The oriental theme extends to the 26 rooms and suites which are decorated in rich chintz fabrics from famous worldwide textile houses like Zoffany or Llorca and also toile de Jouy. Careful chosen antique pieces were brought from Africa and the Far East: mother-of-pearl-inlaid desks and night stands, Chinese porcelain, ornate wardrobes, Chinese boxes and oriental carpets. The luxurious bathrooms were done in Italian marble or Moroccan glazed tile and toiletries include glass jars of bath salts, hand-made soap bars, Molton Brown beauty and hair care products. Amenities include wireless Internet, flat-screen TV, mini bar, air conditioning, safe, hair dryer. CD and DVD players, fax machines and other appliances can be provided on request. Rooms start at 320 euros.

There is no restaurant onsite but the lounge serves a blend of French, Mediterranean and Asian cuisine in a baroque setting.
